On May 1st 2025, the campus of Collège Évangélique Emmanuel in Trou-du-Nord came alive with the delicious scents and vibrant energy of a Foire Gastronomique (Food Fair). Families, students, and guests gathered to celebrate Haiti’s culture through food, music, and dance. The event was a lively and colorful display of community pride and youth creativity.

👨🍳 Youth Show Off Their Culinary Talents
One of the highlights of the fair was the amazing culinary showcase by the youth. Students prepared and presented a wide range of traditional and modern Haitian dishes—from griyo and bannann peze to innovative takes on local recipes. Their hard work, presentation, and flavor impressed everyone. Many visitors left with full stomachs and new recipe ideas!

💃 Culture on Display Through Dance
The food wasn’t the only thing bringing smiles. The youth also performed traditional dances that celebrated Haiti’s rich heritage. Dressed in colorful cultural attire, they moved with pride and energy. Each performance told a story and reflected the spirit of unity and identity that the school fosters in its students.
🎶 Music and Local Artists Light Up the Stage
To top it all off, several local artists performed live, entertaining the crowd with covers of current Haitian hit songs. From konpa rhythms to rap kreyòl, the performances had everyone dancing and singing along. It was a perfect ending to a joyful day that highlighted the talent and passion of the youth in Trou-du-Nord.
